is a type of wood that has been enhanced naturally using only heat and steam. This advanced modification alters the wood's chemical and physical structure, resulting in improved durability, stability and resistance to decay while also giving the wood a delightful darker tone. We use thermal modification for all of our exterior products as well as many of our sauna and interior solutions.
is untreated wood that has been dried under ordinary conditions and has not undergone any further modification. At Thermory, we procure the finest-quality lumber from around the world. Depending on the wood species, natural wood can exhibit a variety of colors, grain patterns, textures and other characteristics. We use natural wood for sauna and interior products.
Like any wood, the surface of Thermory’s thermally modified wood products naturally turns silver-gray over time (which is a natural UV reaction). The process begins immediately and, depending on how much UV light the wood is exposed to, can take from a few months to several years. This has no effect on the strength and durability of thermally modified wood, but if you would like to preserve or alter the color tone of the boards, we recommend treating them with a UV-resistant oil, repeating the process annually for decking and every 2–3 years for cladding. Thermory offers both light and dark oils. To prolong the life of your sauna, we recommend treating all wooden surfaces with a suitable sauna oil. The oil will protect against dirt and moisture, facilitate cleaning and enliven the wood surface.
This treatment is a water-based product containing natural wax for treating wooden surfaces in the sauna and other interior spaces. The wax is absorbed into the wood, naturally giving it a beautiful silky surface and creating a protective layer that provides resistance to moisture, dirt and wear.
Thermory’s coated cladding is a high-quality solution that makes any building stand out from the crowd. All our exterior coated products have undergone an intense thermal modification process for exceptional stability and durability. For a long-lasting finish, the wood is then coated with water-based paints that are environmentally friendly and have been tested for service life. Coated timber is a popular choice for a broad range of applications where both aesthetics and durability are important.
Roughening creates refined furrows to give the boards a distinctive rustic appearance. This process can be applied for both functional and aesthetic purposes.
Fire protection solutions are offered with Thermory’s thermally modified pine and spruce cladding in cooperation with Woodsafe Timber Protection. This unique technology alters the wood’s natural properties when it’s exposed to fire, ensuring it adheres to the strictest requirements for combustible materials.
