Tallinn Architecture Biennale (TAB) will take place on the 11th-15th September 2019 in Tallinn, Estonia. Together with Thermory timber and using analogue tools augmented with the precision of mixed reality environments an experimental wooden installation called Steampunk will arise in the heart of Tallinn.
Thermory is happy to announce that the winning project Steampunk will include Thermory’s timber elements. It explores an adaptive design and fabrication system that is resilient to wide variations in material behaviour and fabrication accuracy, occupying a fuzzy in-between that is neither purely analogue nor purely automated. Steampunk explores a path to rethink applications and traditions of craft in pursuit of their evolution.
“We are happy to have the opportunity to partner up with the region’s largest architecture and urban planning festival that promotes architectural culture. At Thermory we strive to create innovative solutions that enhance the urban environment we live in, bringing high quality real wood closer to people in their homes, offices and public spaces. This experimental installation is a great representation of that for us,” said Chief Marketing Officer Andres Kangur.
The installation will be set up in the lively pedestrian green area facing the Museum of Estonian Architecture and will open to the public during TAB 2019 Opening Week on September 11th, 2019.
The structure will remain in place until the next edition of the event in 2021.
Steampunk authors: Gwyllim Jahn, Cameron Newnham (Fologram, AU), Soomeen Hahm Design (UK), Igor Pantic (UK).
